This letter from Esp to Henry is undated but still in her English letters. The envelope has 41 written on the outside. Here she gives a reasonable explanation why she finds this so difficult, her desire to escape violence and upset and be free to pursue her own interests. Trotsky was killed in Aug 1940 by a man who had gained entrance as a boyfriend of one of the women in the compound. There had been reports in the press that Natalia Trotsky was still a target of the GPU. Someone in the compound did not trust Esperanza.
